JOHN COLWART

Project Architect / AIA

John Colwart, AIA, NCARB is an emerging registered architect with over a decade of experience in the architecture industry. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the Works of several Architects including Greene and Greene, Frank Gehry, Irving Gill, and Paul Revere Williams inspired John’s passion for architecture at a young age. In 2008, John volunteered for service in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Intelligence Specialist, developing valuable leadership and organizational skills that have carried over into his work in architecture. After his military service, John graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Architecture from the New School of Architecture and Design in San Diego, California.

As a Project Architect, Mr. Colwart has completed multiple educational modernization projects, ranging from small renovations to large-scale campus designs. John is also experienced in private sector commercial, industrial, and residential projects, and is knowledgeable in computer-aided drafting, project management, sustainable design techniques, specification writing, construction administration, and construction building codes. John's talent for meeting client needs and deadlines have earned him a reputation as a trusted and reliable architect.

Some of Mr. Colwart’s accomplishments include several multiple overseas tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, U.S. Naval Commendations during his time in the military, Los Angeles Metro Water District Spring Green Exposition Eco-Innovator Finalist, San Diego Architectural Foundation’s Orchids Nominee & Architizer A+ Awards Special Mention for his participation in designing and constructing the Inaugural STE(+a)M Conference Reception Pavilion, and an NSAD Thesis Design Award Finalist for his Thesis, The Ruins of South Los Angeles.

In addition to his work in architecture, John enjoys spending time with his family, camping, hiking, woodworking, playing board games, and connecting with his current local community in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Colwart is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in Southwest Washington and is licensed to practice in California and Washington.
